Particularly crucial in this period is coverage of the 57 leading doctors and specialists showing the overwhelming clinical consensus: modern cancer treatments need ‘a range of services onsite, including surgery and intensive care’. They called for an independent clinical review of the proposed New Velindre model as a ‘standalone’ non-surgical facility without acute back-up.

That precipitated Senedd Committee discussion on September 30^th and Velindre’s hurried contract with the Nuffield Trust Advice. However, Nuffield’s negotiated terms of reference actually never intended, or consisted of, an independent clinical review. Hence, shockingly, there still has never been one.
